Working at the Weather Channel was an incredible experience, where I was able to make content in a variety of different themes. By working cross-functionally with their editorial and meteorological teams, we were able to provide hard-hitting, attention-grabbing content on important weather topics like severe forecasts, the growing concern of AI in weather, and culturally relevant phenomenon like NYE in NYC.
Another big responsibility within the social team was scouting and compiling UGC assets to boost on our social. The virality of intense weather systems such as wildfires, floods, and winter storms were important for the health of our page, and we consistently use those kinds of social posts to boost impressions, engagement rates and CTR for our pages. With a keen eye and intuition for finding assets, combined with dynamic copywriting, our social team would routinely publish viral social clips that garnered millions of views, with hundreds of thousands of engagements.
Working for the Weather Channel gave me a unique perspective on brand integrity and journalistic responsibility. It was important that we produced accurate content, because so many people rely on Weather Channel updates in their every day lives. It was a privilege to make a difference for so many people!
